A German Monk by the name of Martin Luther published a work known as the Ninety-Five Theses in 1517 AD. This document openly criticized the Catholic Church at a time when doing so would have meant his death, however through a twisting of the fates, the Germanic princes, who had been affronted by the church protected Martin Luther from violent reparations. At almost the same time, The Ottoman Turks lead by Suleiman the Magnificent attacked the Austrian capital of Vienna, further delaying the Church’s response to Martin Luther. Luther’s brave document began the Protestant Reformation which called into question all of the powers of the Church. Though on one hand it caused massive blood shed, it also opened up avenues for new ideas in science, philosophy, mathematics, theology, government, etc.
Just like then, today the powers of the Federal Government are growing rapidly. So rapidly that it should be considered a cause for concern, but unfortunately many see it as a necessary, possibly even great, thing. I am not so arrogant as to believe that my document will spark a “Conservative Reformation” (however contradictory that phrase may seem), but I do hope that it may make a dent in the ideological fortress that is the university, the union, and even the individual Leftist.
- The smallest government is the best government
- Anarchy leads to despotism
- The expansion of government saps individual creativity, charity, and ambition
- A “helping” hand is a controlling hand
- There is no difference between the Federal Income Tax and highway robbery
- People should not be penalized for the amount of any product/service they produce through the use of their own labor
- One does not spend money which furthers a deficit yet claim it lessens said deficit
- The only function of a federal government should be to raise an army in the event that the State of the Union is threatened
- Citizens have a right to bear Arms, government should not attempt to limit this right
- Freedom of speech should not be impaired in the name of “Fairness”
- Individual, Capitalist, free willed ventures are far more fruitful than any government venture
- Governments should allow businesses to go about their affairs with little or no interference
- Power is to reside within state and local governments alone
- Rule by law is better than rule by mob
- Judges should not be politically motivated
- Judges are not demigods to be revered as higher than the rest of us
- People have a right to amend their constitutions
- Unions, who once used to uphold the needs of the worker, have now become the handmaidens of left-wing politics
- People should not be selected to a place of work/education based off his/her gender or race but rather based off his/her character/experience
- It is not the government’s business to know what my race or gender is
- There is no difference between government run unions and buying votes
- All members of the society should pay some form of taxation so that they have a stake in that taxation not being abused
- High taxation not only hurts corporations but also hurts their employees and those who buy the companies products
- If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach the man to fish he will be fed for a lifetime. The one who feeds the man controls life and death, the one who teaches the man doesn’t.
- Social Security has become a failed system whose only function is to keep track of individuals within the nation
- Welfare makes adults into veritable wards of the state
- One does not raise taxes during a time of recession
- Universal Health Care allows for government bureaucrats to decide who gets treated and who does not. Who lives and who dies.
- Roosevelt’s New Deal not only expanded government but also prolonged the Great Depression by suppressing capitalist ventures under a blanket of socialism
- One has a right to ownership to his own property and that right should not be infringed upon by the government
- One does make the poor richer by making the rich poorer
- Attempts at Land Reform have often ended up causing massive amounts of death, state repression, and tyranny
- Those who try to create Utopia always end up creating Hell
- Most health/environmental/economic scares are attempts made by leftists for the electorate to give the federal government more powers with which to set up more and more restrictions on our liberty
- Leftist ideology is not only subversive to society but also dangerous to human life, liberty, and happiness
- We have a choice: Liberty or Equality. One cannot have both; pick one.
- All states who strove to establish economic equality as an ideal have ended up creating tyranny
- Great crimes have been committed by people who strove for unity
- Unity often stifles debate
- When one calls for unity, one is calling for unity under his/her ideals
- Before one calls for Socialism, one must remember the actions of Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, Bolshevik Russia, Maoist China, Communist North Korea, and Communist Cuba
- Many crimes against humanity have been committed in the name of the people
- People shouldn’t be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people
- Libertas Uber Alles
